RESTORE THE RED ENSIGN

Bring Back Canada’s True National Flag.

A Flag Worth Defending

Before 1965, Canada’s national flag was the Red Ensign.

It flew over Parliament. It flew over our cities. It flew over Canadians in two World Wars.

It carried our coat of arms, our heritage, and our history.

In 1965, it was replaced by the Maple Leaf — not because Canadians demanded it, but because political elites decided our past was inconvenient.

This petition calls for that decision to be reversed.

The Red Ensign told Canada’s story.

It represented:

  • Our founding cultures

  • Our constitutional roots

  • Our shared sacrifice

  • Our national continuity

The Maple Leaf represents none of this.

It is a blank, abstract symbol — a logo for a country that no longer knows who it is.

Nations do not survive on neutrality.

They survive on memory.

“A flag that does not contain the greatness of your heritage is no flag for a nation.
A flag must represent the soul and heart of the nation.”

- John Diefenbaker (1964)

The Petition

We, the undersigned, call upon the Government of Canada to:

  1. Repeal the 1965 flag decision

  2. Restore the Red Ensign as Canada’s official national flag

  3. Reaffirm Canada’s historic identity and continuity

Our country’s symbols should reflect who we are — not erase where we came from.
